There’s always been a huge connection between Galway and Roscommon communities especially along the border area of the Suck river and the villages and Ballinasloe Town where communities from both counties overlap.

Yet this connection wasn’t reflected by effective communication between county councils. During my time as Cathaoirleach of Ballinasloe Municipal District 2022-23 I was delighted to organise the first meeting and bring together Galway and Roscommon County Councillors for a series of meetings to develop collaboration on joint projects in our Just Transition area and to effectively combine forces to try delivering better for our communities in both counties.
